Pro-life roundup: Here’s what happened with abortion at the state level this week
Florida’s Heartbeat Protection Act took effect on Wednesday, May 1. The law protects unborn babies from abortion starting at six weeks of pregnancy.
In a 16-14 vote the Arizona Senate voted to repeal a law protecting unborn babies from abortion beginning at conception. This will return the state to limiting abortion after 15 weeks.
Dakotans for Health, a pro-abortion group in South Dakota, announced on Wednesday that it has exceeded the required number of signatures to add an abortion amendment to the state’s November ballot. If passed, this would enshrine the right to abortion in SD’s Constitution.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed a bill on Tuesday to increase education on fetal development in public schools. The bill mandates that the state’s family life curricula include a three-minute video titled “Baby Olivia,” which was produced by the pro-life group Live Action and shows an unborn baby’s development from conception till birth.
Maine Gov. Janet Mills signed a law last week that seeks to shield out-of-state patients who are seeking abortions or so-called “gender-affirming care” in Maine from possible prosecution. The legislation would prevent their medical records from being shared with law enforcement agencies in other states where such practices have been banned. The law also gives abortionists in the state immunity from any prosecutions on abortions performed on out-of-state women.

Second Boeing Whistleblower Dies Suddenly
Alright, get your tin foil hat out ;) According to the Seattle Times, Joshua “Josh” Dean, a former quality auditor at a Boeing supplier died suddenly this week after struggling with a “sudden, fast-spreading infection.”
Mr Dean was just 45 years old and was one of the first to allege his company had ignored manufacturing defects on Boeing’s 737 MAX aircraft.
The timing seems very suspect, considering he is the second whistleblower to die recently after John “Mitch” Barnett died in March from what authorities ruled as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Mr. Barnett and Mr. Dean were both represented by the same law firm in South Carolina.
EXCLUSIVE: CDC Must Provide Transparency on Troubling IVF Practices, Congressman Says
Republican Oklahoma Rep. Josh Brecheen wrote this week that other Western countries prohibit clinics from “practicing eugenics or carelessly destroying human life,” arguing that the U.S. does not even require IVF clinics to be transparent about their participation in these types of practices. “This carelessness has earned the U.S. the title of the ‘Wild West’ of assisted reproductive technology.”
The letter to the CDC is co-signed by Reps. Matt Rosendale, R-Mont., and Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., and supported by pro-family and pro-life groups, including Americans United for Life, Students for Life Action, the Family Research Council, CatholicVote, Concerned Women for America, the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, and SBA Pro-Life America.
FDA Refuses to Say Whether It Will Add Seizures to COVID-19 Vaccine Labels
In regards to the Moderna and Pfizer shots, in a preprint paper published in late 2023, researchers with the FDA said that seizures and convulsions among children aged 2 to 5 after COVID-19 vaccination set off a safety signal in health care databases.
The FDA has also not disseminated the results of its study to the public through a press release or other means of communication, and has not responded to the Epoch Times inquiry about whether this will be added to the insert.
